George Osborne Said to Voter: “We Will Scrap Tuition Fees.” Lol.

Do you remember the student marches and uproar when Nick Clegg did a complete 180 on the whole tuition fee thing?

Well, in a 2003 letter to a voter, George Osborne wrote that he not only disagreed with tuition fees, but if the Conservative party were to come into power, they would abolish them completely.

We feel a bit like Mowgli in The Jungle Book, being lured in by that creepy snake thing right now.

Here’s the full letter from the Chancellor of the Exchequer:

Here’s the best bits:

“To my mind, this tax on learning is very unfair.”

“I thought you would like to know that the Conservatives have just announced that we will scrap tuition fees altogether when we are next in Government.”

“Thanks to people like you, students will get a fair deal.”
